Offered by the College of Humanities and Sciences, the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) degree is a four-year undergraduate program offered at Ajman University (AU). In a country where the population is a melting pot for multiple cultures, nationalities, and ethnicities, the accredited bachelor’s degree in education from AU provides other educational institutes and language centers in the UAE with proficient, qualified English language teachers.

  • Diversity

The population within the UAE, as well as the broader region at large, hails from all over the world, creating an ever-growing need for qualified English language teachers. AU’s undergraduate program in the UAE gives students the confidence to effectively teach the English language.

With modules introducing elements of Islamic culture, as well as elements of Arabic communication for non-Arab students, the degree offers an in-depth understanding and skill in teaching English as a foreign language.

  • Careers

As the nearly universal mode of communication, English is the default language of the world. The TEFL undergraduate program in UAE available at AU equips graduates with a comprehensive understanding of the linguistic depth and dimension of the English language.

With speakers for whom English is not a first language, the program leads to career opportunities – not only within educational and linguistic institutes, but also within human resource and communications departments at corporate entities. With a stronger understanding of English, a graduate of the TEFL program will be better able to communicate and lead within an administrative or managerial role.

  • Teaching Opportunities

As one of the best undergraduate programs in the UAE, AU TEFL graduates interested in teaching careers have better opportunities for growth for the foreseeable future. Empowered with a TEFL degree, they can effectively implement interactive teaching methodologies in classrooms, use the latest technology to aid language learning, as well as interact confidently with students, parents, colleagues, school principals and administrators. Equipped with enhanced English language skills, graduates will further help to articulate and problem-solve issues in the workplace, as well as aid research skills in data gathering, data analysis and presentations.
